Pashmina Scarf

Kashmir artisans are well known for their hand skills all over the world. Pashmina weaving being one of the most renowned. Pashmina was known as soft gold in Kashmiri. It is made with the wool from the Changra goat’s down found in Ladakh. The fibers are washed and sorted and are routed to Srinagar in Kashmir valley, the only region in the world to master the delicate art of pashmina weaving. The handspun yarn is then handwoven on traditional wooden looms using ancestral techniques passed down from generations of weavers. The warp is made by manually winding the pashmina yarn across 4 to 8 iron rods erected on the ground. This process is called Yarun in Kashmiri.
