Sanjhi Tray

Sanjhi is a ritual temple craft (akin to rangoli) that celebrates Krishna’s life and ‘Leela’. The imagery is cut out in stencils on specially prepared paper. The stenciled paper is placed on the ground or on water and colored powders of various hues are scattered, poured, and pressed on the cut-out portions. When the coloring process is completed the paper is carefully lifted leaving on the ground or water beautiful and colorful images of Krishna Leela on the floor or water surfaces. Sanjhi decorations are very popular in Mathura and Brindavan temples created for celebrations, festive occasions such as Janmashtami, Holi, Raas Leela, etc

• Textiles, handloom and printed to be hand washed or dry cleaned only.
• Metal surfaces to be wiped clean with a dry cloth.
• Papier mache and painted surfaces to be dusted with a dry cloth.
• Cookware, serveware and tableware to be washed with mild soap and wiped dry.
• Products made of natural fibre to be wiped with a dry cloth/ soft brush.

• The nature and tendency of handmade products is that each piece is unique. Unevenness in colour and texture is not a fault but a beautiful characteristic of Artisanal production.
