Description
The locally woven shawls of Bhujodi provided for the identity and needs of many communities in the region including the Rabaris. The weavers depended on the Rabaris who are sheep herding community for wool fleece from sheep, and in exchange wove shawls for them. Today, stoles, carpets, mats, and shawls are made for the winter for the growing North Indian market. For the summer, the weavers have begun weaving in cotton, something that was never done before, thus carving out a yearlong market for themselves.
